SAN BRUNO, Calif. (Gray News) - Authorities in Northern California say they dealt with an unusual situation over the weekend involving a driverless vehicle.
According to the San Bruno Police Department , officers were conducting a DUI enforcement operation when they spotted a Waymo robotaxi making an illegal U-turn in front of them at a light.
Officers pulled over the vehicle, which had no human driver behind the wheel, so they had to contact the company regarding the violation.
“That’s right … no driver, no hands, no clue,” the department shared.
San Bruno police said a ticket couldn’t be issued as their “citation books don’t have a box for robot.”
