Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, had previously requested their statements be taken before October 6. Shyamkanu Mahanta was arrested upon arrival at the Delhi airport from Singapore, and Siddharth Sarma was arrested in Gurugram. Both were taken to Guwahati for further investigation.
