Santa Fe County commissioners voted 4-0 Tuesday to invite residents of an area near the Santa Fe River who want to join the Traditional Historic Community of Agua Fría to present new evidence in January about why the county should again attempt to halt a long-planned annexation by the city of Santa Fe.

The move follows residents of Area 1B recently petitioning the commissioners to adopt an ordinance that would effectively block the city's planned annexation and keep the roughly 1,075-acre tract in the county as a part of Agua Fría village amid concerns about city services and development.

"Please know that we still stand in support of you, but we are within legal constraints at this moment," said Commissioner Lisa Cacari Stone.
