Secretary of State Pete Hegseth’s reshaping of the military includes the waistlines of American troops, from four-star generals to privates.
“I don’t want my son serving alongside troops who are out of shape,” Hegseth told a gathering of the nation’s generals and flag officers Tuesday in Virginia. “Or in a combat unit with females who can’t meet the same combat … physical standards as men. Or troops who are not fully proficient on their assigned weapons platform or task."
“Or under a leader who was ‘the first’ but not the best,” Hegseth said, a reference to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that have been eradicated by the Trump administration.
