A MAGISTRATE has granted bail to a Tamworth man accused of a string of domestic violence charges because he was "disturbed by the slowness of the progress" in the case.
Magistrate Robert Rabbidge granted Carl Blacklock bail in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday, October 1, ordering him out of town and to stay well away from Tamworth.
Mr Rabbidge agreed to grant bail after Blacklock's parole expired the day before, for a separate serious abuse sentence, because he had already served four months on six DV charges.
He said he had to give real thought to bail "given [the] serious nature of offending ... and he's on parole [at the time]."
"I'm somewhat in a difficult position .... [and] disturbed by the slowness of the progress," he told the court.
