Norway defeated Kingsford in girls tennis action Monday ahead of today’s MHSAA Upper Peninsula finals.
“The Kingsford team are fierce competitors, and it really showed on the court,” said Norway coach Cassandra Gustafson. “My girls really showed their determination and grit today.”
Ella Wotovich, Tori Trudeau, and Jessa Rossler all won singles matches for the Knights. Amara Humphreys and Alexis Downs prevailed at No. 4 doubles.
“At No. 3 doubles, Myah Gilroy and Emily Carlson lost the first set but came back to win the second set and the third-set tiebreaker,” Gustafson said. “Kara Stanchina injured her ankle a week ago, and we’ve had to make some adjustments to our doubles teams as a result. I am so impressed by how these girls rose to the challenge,” she said.
