New Delhi: OpenAI has entered the social media space with the launch of its new iOS app called Sora , powered by its latest AI video model Sora 2. The app mixes short-form video feeds with generative AI, directly putting it in competition with TikTok, Instagram Reels and other video-first platforms.

Unlike regular short video apps, Sora adds an AI layer that lets users create hyperreal clips, remix videos and even star in them through a feature called cameos. The company describes Sora 2 as “straight to what we think may be the GPT-3.5 moment for video,” marking a big leap in how AI generates moving images and sound.

The Sora app is rolling out in the US and Canada for iOS users on an invite-only basis. Android users will have to wait for later update
