A powerful earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter Scale hit central Philippines on Tuesday, killing at least 69 people and leaving over 150 injured.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake’s epicentre was located about 17 kilometres (10 miles) northeast of Bogo, a coastal city of around 90,000 people in the tourist hotspot of Cebu province. The earthquake was triggered by a local fault line and caused significant structural damage across towns and villages, the India Today reported.
The quake struck at 9:50 pm (1359 GMT) on Tuesday. At least 22 buildings including a stone church were damaged and power supply has been snapped in seve
