State 42 will close to thru-traffic in and around Forestville for about a month starting Oct. 6 for a Wisconsin Department of Transportation project to replace two deteriorated concrete box culverts under the highway, the Door County Highway Department announced. It's the second culvert replacement project closing a portion of a state highway in Door County for the next month.
One of the culverts to be replaced is about three-fourths of a mile south of the intersection of 42 and County J in the heart of Forestville, or just north of 42 and County X/County Line Road. The second is just over half a mile north of the 42/J intersection, near 42 and Brans Road.
The highway will be closed completely at the work sites, but access to properties on 42 will be maintained at all times, the highway
