INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting on Oct. 1, Hoosiers can apply for financial assistance to help heat their homes during the winter months.
This is made possible through the Indy Energy Assistance Program (EAP).
“The energy assistance program is critical because we are dealing with our most vulnerable populations,” said Carla James, director of basic need with the John H. Boner Neighborhood Centers. “When the temperatures drop, people really need to maintain their utility services and we know during the winter time, bills go up so this is a program to help people maintain that safe, warm heating environment for their families.”
Each year, close to 30,000 people apply for energy assistance in Marion County. Eligibility is based on income and household size.
