Dr. Ala Standford, a nationally celebrated public health leader and founder of the Black Doctors Consortium, is set to announce run for Congress.

During a press conference on Wednesday, October 1, in her hometown of Germantown, Stanford, along with family, friends, and supporters, will officially announce her campaign for the 3rd Congressional District as a Democrat in 2026.

She enters a crowded primary race with the backing of longtime U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans, who will retire at the end of his sixth term next year.
