LONDON, Oct 1 (Reuters) – British hedge fund Winton's flagship multi-strategy fund posted a 2.2% monthly return in September, bringing its year-to-date returns to 2.2%, a source told Reuters on Wednesday. The $13.8 billion quantitative investment manager also has a newer fund, up 11.2% for the year to end-September, the source added. This strategy tracks equity markets and includes part of a Winton trend following programme in a UCITS format which launched earlier this year. UCITS, Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities, are a type of fund offered in the European Union and heavily regulated to protect retail investors.
