LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — Heads up!
If your travels take you along I-90 in Lake County , the rest areas for both eastbound and westbound traffic will close Oct. 14 “to be demolished and replaced with new facilities.”
The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that demolition is expected to take place during the winter months. Construction, which is slated to start in the spring of 2026, is expected to be completed in about a year.
Originally built in 1983, the current facilities will be replaced “with a lodge-style building, and will feature inside vending and Ohio tourism information.”
ODOT said that once these Lake County rest areas are closed, drivers will not be able to access the parking lot either.
