EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (WITN) - Red flags will continue to fly on Emerald Isle beaches today.

Town officials say strong winds and large swells caused by Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda are still creating hazardous beach conditions.

A high surf advisory is in effect for all beaches today due to the dangerous breaking waves and strong longshore currents.

Officials say swimming is not allowed during red flag conditions.

Lifeguards will not be on duty, as services concluded yesterday.
