The theater departments of the three Williamsburg-James City County high schools were chosen from applicants across the country to be among the first to bring a Tony Award-winning musical to the high school stage.

Only 12 schools across the county were chosen for the honor.

Jamestown High School, collaborating with Warhill and Lafayette high schools, now gets to bring Shaina Taub’s “Suffs” to the stage in the spring. The original Broadway show recounts the Women’s Suffrage movement and highlights key women who fought for the right to vote. The musical will be presented at Jamestown High School and will feature students from all three high schools.
