FORREST CITY, Ark. (KAIT) - A Forrest City doctor was found guilty Monday, Sept. 29, of sexually assaulting multiple female patients.

Dr. Sudesh Banaji, 61, was convicted of six counts of second-degree sexual assault in St. Francis County Circuit Court.

A judge sentenced him to six years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and ordered Banaji to pay $90,000 in fines, according to a Wednesday news release from Arkansas State Police.

The First Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office asked ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division to “investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with patients during examinations at Banaji’s medical clinic.”

ASP special agents arrested Banaji on Aug. 26, 2024.
