In the “other news column” dated Sept. 26, “Dozens of Masked people smash cases and take off with jewelry in San Ramon.”

The wearing of surgical masks, ski masks and hooded sweatshirts, appears to be an epidemic and a way for masked robbers and thieves to be undetected and able get away with robberies, property damage, car theft and injuries to business owners and employees.

Perhaps a law should be passed stating that it is illegal to wear any mask, in public, without a doctor’s signed note. It is my belief that these thieves, due to their ages, are mostly teenagers and cannot be put in prison for their acts.
