Alabama, home to over 45,000 federal workers, faces uncertainty as state lawmakers blame each other for the government shutdown .

Roughly 750,000 federal workers are expected to be furloughed, some potentially fired by the Trump administration. Many offices will be shuttered, perhaps permanently, as Trump vows to “do things that are irreversible, that are bad” as retribution.

Dozens of government agencies, from NASA to Redstone Arsenal, could be impacted, with Alabama having the highest per capita federal employment in the Southeast, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
