As the clock hit midnight on Tuesday, and the federal government ground to a halt without the funding to keep it going, Massachusetts politicians pointed the finger of blame in just one direction:

“It’s midnight, which means Trump’s government just ran out of money,“ U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., wrote in a post to X. ”Our entire government is shut down because Republicans in power refuse to lower health care costs."

Democrats have made the fight over health care access central to the shutdown battle with the GOP.

Democrats are demanding funding for health care subsidies that are expiring for millions of people under the Affordable Care Act, spiking the costs of insurance premiums nationwide.
