ATLANTA — Former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan is now in Georgia politics as a statewide candidate once again — this time as a Democrat.

He recently announced he's running for governor.

Duncan, who served as Georgia's lieutenant governor as a member of the GOP from 2019 to 2023, was once a strong supporter of President Donald Trump.

But after the 2020 election, he distanced himself from Trump and the Republican Party following the president's criticism of the results of Georgia's 2020 presidential election.

He formally switched parties this summer and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
