ADOC Searching for Escaped Inmate from Huntsville Work Site

The Alabama Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help in locating an escaped inmate who walked away from his work site in Huntsville earlier this week.

Officials say 66-year-old Phillip Russell Deason was last seen around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at United Plating, where he had been assigned to work.

Deason is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with red/auburn hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue and white shirt, and a ball cap.

Authorities report that Deason was serving a sentence for theft of property at the North Alabama Community Based Facility/Community Work Center, under minimum community custody status.
