HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - An inmate on work release has escaped in Huntsville, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials reported.

Officials say 66-year-old Phillip Russell Deason left from his assigned job location at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Huntsville.

Deason, who is serving a life sentence for Theft of Property - 1st Degree, was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue and white shirt and a ball cap.

He is described as a 5′9″ white male with blue eyes and red/auburn hair.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, notify the following:

local law enforcement agency

the facility from which he escaped (North Alabama Community Based Facility and Community Work Center), or;

call the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825.
