OMAHA, Neb. —
Nebraska, home to more than 12,000 federal workers, faces uncertainty as state lawmakers warned of the consequences of a government shutdown.
Roughly 750,000 federal workers are expected to be furloughed, some potentially fired by the Trump administration. Many offices will be shuttered, perhaps permanently, as Trump vows to “do things that are irreversible, that are bad” as retribution.
Nebraska, home to Offutt Air Force Base, could be impacted with the state having 618 federal employees per 100,000 people, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
