A new law will allow the Maryland Transit Administration to suspend or ban passengers who violate their new code of conduct procedures, especially if they engage in physical or verbal assault.

Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold said they’re launching the ‘Rider Code of Conduct.” It will allow the MTA to suspend or ban passengers who violate the code.

The following behaviors are prohibited on MTA vehicles and in MTA facilities:

– Unlawful possession of a firearm

– Harassment, including verbal abuse, use of racial or other slurs, intimidation, excessive screaming and yelling, and excessive foul language or gestures

– Sexual harassment: Any of the above types of harassment with sexual overtones or unwanted solicitation of dates/sexual acts
