ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions are opening the clock on Alim McNeill’s return to action. And Dan Campbell feels sorry for anyone who has to line up against him as he works his way back to action.

McNeill will now have 21 days to work himself back into playing shape, and could be activated anytime before those three weeks are up. If he is not activated before those three weeks, McNeill will revert to the PUP list for the rest of the year.

The $97 million interior defender has been out since suffering a torn ACL in December 2024 against the Buffalo Bills. Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket earlier this week that they hope to have McNeill back in action before the Week 8 bye. The Lions coach said he believes McNeill is simply ready for football.
