The Detroit Tigers only need one more win over the Cleveland Guardians to earn a spot in the American League Divisional Series after earning a Game 1 victory on Tuesday.
Behind a gem from ace left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal, the Tigers took a thrilling 2-1 win and now turn to righty Casey Mize to try and shut the door on the Guardians at Progressive Field today (1 p.m., ESPN).
Mize (14-6, 3.87 ERA) missed out on the postseason roster last year, but this season he has a crucial job in trying to see the Tigers through to the next round.
