The New York Yankees have their backs up against the wall just one game into their 2025 playoff experience. An excruciating loss in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series at home against the Boston Red Sox has them in a do-or-die situation tonight in Game 2.

Carlos Rodón will try to keep the season alive, but more importantly, the offense is going to have to do better than one run in nine innings. The Yankees won’t have to face Garrett Crochet again, though they still might have their work cut out for them with Brayan Bello, who has handled them well in his young career. But if they can extend the season to a winner-take-all Game 3, then anything can happen, especially with it being quite unclear who the Red Sox would deploy against rookie Cam Schlittler.
