The Yankees have their backs against the wall heading into Game 2 of their American League Wild Card series against the Red Sox .

Despite a deflating Game 1 loss , Aaron Boone remains confident in his team to get the job done despite history not being on the Yankees’ side.

Since the current Wild Card format was introduced in 2022, the winner of Game 1 has advanced to the division series all 12 times.

“We’re gonna show up (Wednesday), and I expect us to do pretty well,” the manager told reporters after New York’s 3-1 loss to Boston . “We’ve been playing with a lot on the line seemingly every single day. We’ll be ready to go, and I expect us to come out and get one (Wednesday).”
