(WJW) – The Canadian government updated its travel advisory this week for residents planning to visit the U.S.
The updated guidelines, published September 29, have significant revisions to entry and exit requirements and safety guidance for 2SLGBTQI+ travelers.
The biggest change is regarding gender identity.
Canada and more than a dozen other countries have adopted ‘X’ as a gender marker.
“You should also be aware that current systems used by some countries and travel companies may not recognize the ‘X’ gender identifier,” the Canadian government warns. “You may still be asked to provide your sex/gender information as either male or female when travelling.”
