German federal prosecutors announced Wednesday that three suspected members of Hamas were arrested in Berlin on allegations of plotting attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets. The coordinated operation also involved raids in Leipzig and Oberhausen.
According to prosecutors, the men, identified as German nationals Abed Al G. and Ahmad I., along with Lebanese-born Wael F. M., whose nationality is still under review, are accused of being “foreign operatives” of Hamas. They allegedly sought to acquire firearms and ammunition in Germany to carry out deadly assaults.
