Morning commuters in New York’s Bronx were jolted on Wednesday when part of a 20-storey public housing building suddenly collapsed, leaving one corner of the structure reduced to rubble. The incident took place around 8:10 am at 207 Alexander Avenue in the Mitchel Houses complex, a dense residential cluster in the Mott Haven area.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) confirmed that the collapse triggered a massive dust cloud, sending residents running for cover. Eyewitness videos shared online showed debris cascading from the rooftop to the ground, blanketing the block in seconds.
