One of the fun undercards anytime a Boston team is facing a New York team, especially in the postseason, is how the three New York tabloids will splash the results on their backpages and will they or won’t they use a slammer (!)?

Not surprisingly, the Red Sox beating the Yankees in Game 1 on Tuesday had the backpage editors slamming their local 9 .

The New York Post had a surly looking Aaron Boone next to the headline:

“BOONE DOGGLE - Skip‘s quick hook backfires, sending Bombers to brink after just one game”

There’s a smaller picture of Boone taking the ball from Max Fried .
