As the new school year gets underway, conversations about student mental health are more important than ever. One local organization is stepping in with a creative approach designed to help students feel seen, heard and connected.

The Chalkboard Agency , founded by educator Stu Cabe, is building what he calls a “story exchange”, a digital library of short, student-centered videos that teachers and schools can access on demand. Each video features a real student, educator or community member sharing an honest personal story about challenges, growth or belonging.

“What classrooms and students are really looking for is genuine, authentic connection,” Cabe said. “We’re using technology to capture their voices and help them feel a sense of belonging.”
