DENVER (KDVR) — A pedestrian was killed in an early morning hit-and-run in Aurora on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.

Just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a call about a man lying in the road.

An investigation determined that the man was pushing a shopping cart in the eastbound lane of East Hampden Avenue east of South Picadilly Road — a vehicle traveling in the same direction on East Hampden Avenue hit the man.

The driver did not stop and is believed to have fled further east towards Gun Club Road.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from those injuries.

He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.

Police have not found any witnesses to the inciden
