The Blue Jays are trying to stave off any rust during their bye week, staying busy with an intrasquad game Wednesday afternoon.

Here’s what the team had to say at a media availability before the action.

Ross Atkins, general manager

• Alejandro Kirk will catch, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will play first. The rest is still up in the air, days before the Jays first game of the playoffs. “It’s a little bit bigger than a handful of decisions because it’s not just roster decision, it’s deployment.”

• The Jays are still “working through” who will pitch in Game 1 but that they are “near finalizing some rotation decisions.”

• “Encouraged” by how slugger Anthony Santandar and starter Chris Bassitt are progressing though he’s not sure if shortstop Bo Bichette , who has not played since Sept.
