The Yankees made some noise in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 1 of their American League Wild Card series against the Red Sox when they loaded the bases with nobody out.

After three straight singles, Aroldis Chapman settled in and got Giancarlo Stanton to strike out swinging, Jazz Chisholm flied out to right field and Trent Grisham foul tipped a 101.2 mph inside fastball that ended the game and gave Boston the 3-1 win .

For the Yankees, it was more than just a deflating loss .
