After Congress failed to pass an agreement to keep government programs and services running by Wednesday, the government shut down for the foreseeable future.

The Board of Lucas County Commissioners said all 12 departments under the board’s authority will remain open and operational during the shutdown. In a news release, the board said it was confident that there will be no interruptions to the services and programs if a shutdown is resolved within 30 days.

In solidarity with those workers not receiving a paycheck, U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R., Bowling Green) contacted the federal Office of Chief Administrative Officer to have his pay withheld for the full length of the government shutdown. Mr. Latta voted in support of the funding bill.
