After a man was found shot in a vehicle on Interstate 10 in Metairie on Tuesday, authorities say they are investigating the case's ties to a homicide in New Orleans.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office investigators responded to a report of a shooting on I-10 westbound near the Bonnabel Boulevard exit, said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesperson for the department.

The victim was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available early Wednesday afternoon.

Few details were available from the Sheriff's Office. Rivarde said only that the shooting was "related to an earlier homicide in New Orleans." The Sheriff's Office did not disclose which shooting.

The New Orleans Police Department has not yet responded to a request for information about the victim found in Metairie.
