Hundred of tributes have been made online after news of the loss of the “soul” of Bayswater City soccer club, who served the community for almost 50 years.

Bayswater City soccer club shared the news of Sergio Legni’s death on social media and said his presence was woven into every part of their story.

The club said it was “heartbroken” to share the news of the passing of their “club legend”.

The post said he serviced and dedicated his life to “Baysie”, from his younger days pulling on the black-and-blue jersey as a player to his decades of tireless service behind the bar.

“He wasn’t just a volunteer — he was the heartbeat of our club,” the post said.

“Walking into our club and not seeing Sergio’s smiling face behind the bar will leave an emptiness we cannot describe.
