BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — U.S. Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak says Democrats are "holding the government hostage" when commenting on the shutdown of the federal government, which began at 12 a.m. on October 1.
The shutdown comes after the House passed a continuing resolution to fund the federal government at the current levels through November. Rep. Fedorchak criticized Democrats, saying, "They have used this opportunity to create attention to use it for political theater to advance many of their radical ideas."
Democrats are holding out for over a trillion dollars in healthcare funding. The Democratic-backed bill includes funding for an extension of healthcare subsidies and rolls back Medicare cuts passed in Congress earlier this year.
Rep. Fedorchak characterized the democratic plan as "p
