Montrose's iconic rainbow crosswalks are being reinstated — with the same colors it previously had —after a temporary removal for construction prompted questions about whether they would return.
Houston's public transit agency, METRO, and City Council Member Abbie Kamin, who represents that area of Montrose, confirmed to Houston Public Media Wednesday that the rainbows were being painted back in.
"The rainbow crosswalk striping at Westheimer and Taft, which was temporarily removed while METRO conducted road repairs as part of our BOOST project, will be restored as the city continues to review recent federal guidance," Anna Carpenter, communications director at METRO, said in a statement.
