The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation wants to hire CDL drivers and diesel mechanics in Lancaster County.

A hiring event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Lancaster County maintenance office, 2105 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster.

Winter temporary and permanent CDL operators start at $22.49 an hour. Diesel equipment mechanic positions start at $27.75.

Staff will be available to discuss job openings for CDL operators. Applicants must have a valid Pennsylvania CDL Class A or B with air brake restriction removed. The position also requires a current medical examiner certificate.

PennDOT said on-the-spot applications, interviews and driving skills testing will take place. Applications must bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card.
