MEMPHIS, Tenn — United States Attorney General Pam Bondi made a social media post claiming that 53 arrests have been made and 20 illegal firearms have been seized in two days of the Memphis Safe Task Force.

Bondi sent the update on X, formerly Twitter, as she did after the first day of the task force's operations.

The post goes on to read that a missing juvenile was also located and three firearms were recovered at the home of a murder suspect.

The new initiative launched Monday as part of the presidential order signed by Donald Trump, which sent 13 state and federal law enforcement agencies to Memphis.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said the deployment will be a "phased approach" that will last over the next several weeks and months.
