DELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — The Volusia Sheriff's Office said a 13-year-old boy was arrested after asking a violent question to an AI service.
According to the sheriff's office, a school resource deputy at Southwestern Middle School in Deland got a Gaggle alert that someone had asked ChatGPT, "How to kill my friend in the middle of class."
Law enforcement immediately responded to the school and confronted the teenager.
The boy said he was "just trolling" a friend who annoyed him, deputies said.
"Another 'joke' that created an emergency on campus," the sheriff's office said. "Parents, please talk to your kids so they don't make the same mistake."
