New Orleans and Louisiana have left an indelible mark on rap music as the home state of some of the genre's biggest stars and most iconic record labels.

Five albums by Louisiana artists were selected for music website Pitchfork's newly-released top 100 rap albums of all time — and one made it all the way to the top 3.

The albums ranged from the early days of Cash Money and No Limit along with two of the most famous rappers to come from New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
