Education and solidarity were the focus of local observances

Dozens of people gathered at the Falstaff Family Centre Tuesday for learning and acknowledgement to mark this year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day began with an early morning sunrise ceremony featuring Oneida First Nation elder and Turtle Clan member Patsy Day, included a solidarity walk that saw dozens of supporters circle Lake Victoria, and was followed by a viewing of the documentary film Birth of Family, which tells the story of four siblings who were put into foster homes during the Sixties Scoop and how they reconnected decades later.
