MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Minot Air Force Base plays a unique role in America’s defense system as the only U.S. community hosting both missiles and bombers.
Decisions about modernizing those forces were at the forefront of talks in our nation’s capital this past week with Minot’s Task Force 21 group.
Roughly 200 people talked about strategic deterrence with national security experts, military leaders, and members of Congress.
Their message was clear: modernization is not optional; it is essential for the country.
The Sentinel missile system will replace more than 400 Minuteman III missiles across the U.S.
Physical work has yet to begin in Minot, though the Air Force has begun decommissioning Minuteman missile silos at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming.
