PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — An East Bluff teen was convicted Wednesday in connection with a deadly shooting that left one person dead, and another injured this past summer. Lamar Cagle, 17, showed no emotion as guilty verdicts for first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm were read aloud. Several rows behind him in the audience, one woman bowed her head in sorrow. The jury had deliberated for about three hours before returning their verdicts. He now faces at least 41 years and possibly decades more when he's sentenced Nov. 19 by Peoria County Circuit Judge Paul Bauer. It doesn't appear from the charges that he is deemed to be the triggerman, but rather, someone who was legally responsible — and just as guilty — as the person who did the shooting.
