MEDINA, Ohio (WJW) - Highland High School’s homecoming football game is in limbo after Barberton canceled Friday night’s matchup, citing a lack of healthy players.

The Hornets, who are undefeated at 6-0, learned Tuesday night that Barberton would be unable to take the field. Highland head coach Mike Gibbons called it a disappointing first for the program.

“This is a first, disappointed for our kids' number one,” Gibbons said.

The news hit especially hard for Highland’s seniors.

"Me personally, I'm pretty upset," said running back Casey Myser.

The timing adds to the sting, with Friday marking Highland’s homecoming—a night traditionally filled with celebration for the school, students and community.
