MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Russ Parent played for the Monroe Moccasins in the early 2000s. Two decades later, he is returning to the team as its head coach.

Parent, who was also a draft pick of the New York Rangers, is joining the Moccasins for its second season back in Monroe.

American hockey isn’t Parent’s only experience. He also represented Team Canada in international games.

Parent said he is excited for the Moccasins’ return to Monroe after a 23-year hiatus.

The Moccasins’ 2025 season opener will be at the Monroe Civic Center on Saturday, Oct. 11. They’ll play against the Biloxi Breakers.
